Do you prefer to lick the peanut butter jar completely clean? Then I have good news for you—especially if you’re also a passionate beer lover. Brewery Homeland is introducing the very first peanut butter beer. Beer with the taste of peanut butter, that is. Isn’t this simply heaven for beer-and-peanut-butter fans?

The peanut butter beer has a special name: Donderbus. A donderbus is a historical firearm that pirates used on ships. That weapon caused an explosion, just as Donderbus beer delivers an explosion of flavors. Well, you can certainly say that. Because alongside peanut butter, you can also taste chocolate in the beer. As if you’re drinking Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups from a bottle.

Peanut butter beer: made with real peanut butter

Donderbus is a dark, strong beer in the Pastry Stout category. We’re familiar with sweet cookie-and-pastry beers: HEMA already introduced us to stroopwafel beer and pepernoten beer. What makes Donderbus unique is that 100% pure peanut butter (50 kilograms, no less) has been added to the beer. Real peanut butter, along with real cacao nibs. And you can taste it. Not some vague hint of peanut butter and chocolate that only shows up somewhere at the back of your throat minutes after your sip. No, this beer unmistakably delivers the flavors of true Dutch culinary icons: peanut butter and hagelslag.

About Brewery Homeland

Brewery Homeland is a sustainable brewery located on Amsterdam’s Marineterrein. They do justice to their location with the names of their beers. Donderbus, for example—as a pirate weapon—is a name that recalls the site’s seafaring past. The brewery has won numerous awards for its special beers. They have already won gold four times at the Dutch Beer Challenge, as well as silver and bronze four times at the Brussels Beer Challenge. They’re doing well!

Time to taste

Donderbus peanut butter beer is Homeland’s latest flagship. Are you already salivating at the thought of beer, peanut butter and chocolate? You can buy the beer from 16 November via the brewery’s webshop: brouwerijhomeland.nl. On 18 November, the beer will be festively launched at the Stoutfest at Poesiat & Kater. Mark it in your calendar, because it’s going to be a spectacular Donderbus party!
