Win 10,000 euros by eating as many frikandellen as possible

Frikandel speciaal, a Dutch snack.

Did you just miss out on those millions on New Year’s Eve? Every year I get excited about entering the lottery, but every year I win absolutely nothing, so maybe it’s time to give up on those tickets and go for something a little more certain. Something that suits me better. Something where I can estimate my chances of winning. In other words: entering the frikandel-eating championship.

Just a small disclaimer, because you never know with corona: it’s scheduled for April 4 in Ghent, Belgium. So it’s somewhat tentative, but with a little luck (fingers crossed) it should be possible from a corona perspective. Because there’s a pretty substantial cash prize at stake, and of course everyone would like to win that.

1, 2, 3… GO

Eat as many frikandellen as possible and if you’re number one, you win 10,000 euros. TEN THOUSAND! Hooooly shitballs, that’s a lot of money. Especially when you consider that the entry fee is only 10 euros. Seriously, you’d be a fool not to enter, right?! You can easily make that 10 euros back with a few frikandellen. With curry, satay sauce, mayo or ooh… With onions. I can’t wait already.

The idea isn’t really for you to leisurely slide a few frikandellen down your throat, though—no: this is serious business. So there are rules attached. You must not throw up or go to the toilet for one hour after your last frikandel. I get the throwing up part… But not going to the toilet? I really have the bladder of a peanut, so how is that supposed to work? Surely you have to flush it down with water? I’ll email the organizers about this.

Still hesitating? Then just watch the video below. Like I said: you’d be a fool not to enter! Okay, things are getting serious with me because I now have an incredible craving for a special frikandel. This is going to be my event. I can feel it.
