With these 4 tips, you’ll get those nasty grease stains out of your clothes in no time

#%^#$^&!!! Spilled on your shirt again. Greasy mayonnaise this time. But it’s not too late yet. You can actually do something about those kitchen stains. These are 4 clever tricks that make it super easy to get nasty, greasy stains out of your clothes.

We’ll give you the most important tip right away: hurry, hurry, hurry. Take action immediately when you realize you have a grease stain on your clothes. Otherwise, the stain will soak into the fibers and it will only become more difficult to remove. So get started right away. With…
Tip 1: bile soap
Bile soap is the cleaning product that has been saving households from stain disasters for years. For years, yes: your grandmother (and her grandmother too) undoubtedly has some at home. Bile soap is also your lifesaver when it comes to grease stains. Wet the bar of soap, rub it thoroughly into the stain and immediately put the dirty shirt in the washing machine. That “immediately in the washing machine” part is important. If the soap dries for too long, you can get bleach stains. And then you have a whole different problem. Oh yes: don’t wash at a temperature higher than 40 degrees. Otherwise, the soap will stop working!
Tip 2: baking soda
Baking soda (or baking powder) is amazing. We already knew that, because you can use it to very easily clean your filthy shower and remove rings from your induction hob. So you can also use it to get grease stains out of your clothes. Rub the baking soda thoroughly into the stain and let it sit for an hour. Then brush off the excess powder. Still not completely satisfied? Put the garment in the wash once more right away.
Tip 3: dish soap
Dish soap is an everyday cleaning product—at least for those who don’t have the luxury of a dishwasher. You can also use the stuff very easily to remove grease stains from your clothes. Squeeze some dish soap onto the stain and place the garment in a bowl of lukewarm water. Let it soak for a while. Then wash it in the washing machine at the highest temperature. Do check the washing instructions for your garment: you don’t want your delicate shirt to come out of the machine completely shrunken.
Tip 4: things from your kitchen (and bathroom) cupboard
There’s a good chance you have even more things in your kitchen—and even your bathroom—that can remove stains from your clothes. Milk, toothpaste and lemon juice are examples. How do you use them on your clothes? Rub them into the stain, let it soak in for about fifteen minutes and then rinse it out with cold water. If necessary, wash the garment in the washing machine afterward. And voilà, goodbye grease stain!
