With Villa Massa limoncello, you’ll want to make a Spritz or Limon-Tonic right now

When you say summer, you say limoncello, and when you say high summer, you say Limoncello Spritz or Limoncello Tonic – right?! Because wow, what a delicious and refreshing drink this is, and although you really have to be very careful with it, we can wholeheartedly recommend this drink for a cheerful vibe.

Limoncello also makes a great digestif in every season, because even in winter you can definitely use a refreshing lemon liqueur after dinner — if only to make sure you don’t fall into hibernation like a big bear immediately after the stew?
Hot & happening
But for now, we’re sticking with summer and this delicious limoncello from the Italian brand Villa Massa. Maybe you remember: recently, Villa Massa sponsored an award at the appropriately scorching-hot London edition of the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards. We were allowed to join, and it was truly an incredible blast, with dozens of exuberant chefs and a hyper-enthusiastic celebration of the most extraordinary aspects of hospitality.
The award made possible by Villa Massa was the one for Highest Climber; the restaurant in the ranking that had risen the most compared with the previous year. That award went to Berlin’s Nobelhart & Schmutzig, a restaurant that calls itself ‘fiercely local’ and tries to connect with its surroundings in everything it does.

Tables full of food and limoncello – yes please
It was certainly hot and happening there in London, and honestly, the Limoncello Spritzes and Tonics couldn’t be served fast enough. So fresh and refreshing, and if you don’t go overboard with the quantities, this drink is a really great addition to a leisurely aperitivo with countless nibbles, or at the table with a pizza topped with genuinely high-quality ingredients.
And if, after a long evening of dining, you also want to sip from a tiny ice-cold glass of limoncello straight from the freezer, we completely understand.
Family recipe
Villa Massa limoncello is made with lemons that may come exclusively from Sorrento, with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) from the EU. (Read this if you’d like to learn more about Italian quality marks and designations of origin.) No artificial flavourings or colourings are added, and the family recipe has been a closely guarded secret for 130 years. It is known, however, that only lemon peels, sugar and alcohol are used — but whether or not you manage to figure out the precise proportions, you can always make a Limoncello Spritz or a Limoncello tonic!
