World-famous restaurant Noma is turning into a burger joint (and you don’t need a reservation)
A few weeks ago, René Redzepi of the world-famous restaurant Noma announced that, because of coronavirus, he had started offering so-called ‘prepayment vouchers’ – so that you could secure a spot at his table in ‘the new normal’. Now he has come up with something new again.
Vouchers for the happy few
For four years in a row, Noma, the restaurant in Copenhagen that works exclusively with ingredients from Scandinavia, was named the best restaurant in the world. But this restaurant, too, was forced to close its doors because of coronavirus. René Redzepi closed the door of Noma behind him on 14 March, and Noma will remain closed until at least 17 May.
With his restaurant vouchers, you could bypass the endless waiting lists and finally take a seat, post-coronavirus. The vouchers start at 5,000 Danish kroner (approximately €670) and go up to more than 100,000 Danish kroner – that’s over €13,400!
Burgers and wine
But now Redzepi has announced something new again: Noma will reopen on 21 May as a wine & burger bar with outdoor seating and a grab-and-go menu to reduce the risk of infection. The good news: you don’t need outrageously expensive vouchers and you don’t need a reservation. What can you order there? The Noma Cheeseburger, for example, or a vegetarian burger.

And what about my vouchers?!
Are you one of the lucky people who already made a reservation at Noma this year? Don’t worry. After the temporary burger bar, Noma will return to business as usual. All in all, it’s a fun, temporary stunt that also allows those of us with less money to experience Noma for once, even if it’s in burger form.
