Wow: ‘McDonald’s sold real McKroketten as the vegetarian version’
Oof, McDonald’s is embroiled in quite a scandal thanks to a former employee — at least, she says she is one. She told Jamie and Oliver on the AvondVrijdagShow on 3FM about her time at the McDonald’s in Tiel. And if what she claims about the veggie McKroketten is really true… Wow.
She told the radio show that when the Veggie McKroket was introduced, that branch ended up with too many ‘real’ McKroketten. And you may have guessed it already, but indeed: they simply sold them as the vegetarian version, despite the fact that they contained meat.
‘The manager approved it’
According to the anonymous caller, she was standing by the fries when she saw the two types of croquettes being mixed together and, she continued, ‘the manager saw it and approved it.’ I guess that manager has since been called to account (and fired), because 3FM’s TikTok is currently going completely viral and will therefore probably have reached Tiel too.

Seriously, it’s utterly bizarre if this actually happened. People in the comments are therefore not amused: ‘That’s really not normal, what if someone is allergic,’ ‘Not great if you have a metabolic disorder like my daughter and aren’t allowed to eat meat,’ ‘This is my fear as a vegetarian,’ are just a few of the comments on TikTok.
And this one too: ‘RIP McDonald’s in Tiel.’ Oof, yes — I assume the atmosphere there isn’t exactly great right now, but if this story is true, that’s entirely their own fault.
