WTF: woman sues macaroni producer for this bizarre reason
Food packaging is a recurring topic in the editorial office. We could keep writing about the times we’ve been seriously ripped off by it or come across bizarrely illogical packaging. Not to mention those packages that are simply so irritating that we have to try very hard to remain calm. A woman from Florida failed to remain calm: she is suing a macaroni producer over the packaging.
And that is because, according to her, the information about the preparation time on the packaging is incorrect. The packaging says it takes three and a half minutes to make the macaroni. No way José (or in this case, Kraft Heinz, the company being sued), the woman thought. I still have to open the package and add cheese sauce and water. Only then can the macaroni go into the microwave. And all of that really cannot be done in three and a half minutes, the woman claims. According to her, Kraft Heinz is therefore failing to keep its promise, which she calls misleading.
The demand: 5 million dollars
The American is now demanding a paltry $5 million in damages, or €4.8 million. At least she’ll be able to buy microwave macaroni for the rest of her life. Kraft Heinz says, incidentally, that it is not afraid of the lawsuit. “We are aware of this frivolous lawsuit and will vigorously defend ourselves against these allegations,” a company spokesperson told CNN. We are curious to see how it ends.
