Thirsty tales

You can now buy Chateau Amsterdam wine at HEMA

Chateau Amsterdam wijn HEMA

Yes, you read that right! Two cheerful Amsterdam wines are now on HEMA’s wine shelves. HEMA’s wine selection, filled with wines from well-known wine countries such as France, Italy and South Africa, has gained a very special winery: Chateau Amsterdam. The two wines, ‘He he’ white and ‘Poeh poeh’ rosé, are bursting with Amsterdam boldness.

Wine from Amsterdam? Huh, how does that work? Chateau Amsterdam is an urban winery, with a tasting room, in Amsterdam-Noord. Modern and classic wines are produced here in close collaboration with grape growers from all over Europe.

Dutch pride on HEMA’s wine shelves

Chateau Amsterdam is a modern family business founded by a father and son. By working closely with farmers from all over Europe, they move the grapes instead of the bottles. Tom Veugen of Chateau Amsterdam: “Making wine on neutral ground offers the unique opportunity to bring all grape varieties, countries and styles together under one roof. This enables us to innovate and experiment with new flavours and experiences.” Grapes from abroad are turned into wine in Amsterdam. Together with HEMA, they have developed two crowd favourites.

‘He he’ white and ‘Poeh poeh’ rosé

Phew, found it: the white wine everyone enjoys. The grapes for this white wine come from friendly grape growers in Abruzzo, Italy, Pfalz, Germany, Valencia, Spain and, wonderfully, Groesbeek in the Netherlands too. The wine is beautifully dry, fresh and fruity, with a soft finish. (€7.50 per bottle).

‘Poeh, poeh..’
Phew, you deserve it: a glass of delicious rosé. The grapes in this rosé are grown in Pfalz, Germany and Valencia, Spain. The ideal terrace rosé: sultry, juicy and thirst-quenching. (€7.50 per bottle).

Go on a wine tour

Caught the taste for Amsterdam wine? Then go on a wine tour at Chateau Amsterdam. Chateau Amsterdam’s tasting room is currently closed, but the wine shop is still open. So if you enjoy these two wines, the rest of Chateau Amsterdam’s range may well appeal to you too. For example, try a ‘Pet Nát; it’s a blend of 3 different countries, bottled early—in the middle of the fermentation process. The result? A lightly sweet, cloudy wine with very friendly bubbles.
