Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, has shouted it from the rooftops before: hurry and get that grilled sausage sandwich at Kaddour! Good news for everyone who doesn’t live near one of slagerij Kaddour’s branches. You can now also buy this famous chicken grilled sausage at Albert Heijn.

Slagerij Kaddour is located in Utrecht, Rotterdam and Amsterdam (with several branches in the capital, no less). As mentioned, Snackspert was lyrical about the chicken grilled sausage sandwich. ‘This is seriously one of the best grilled sausage sandwiches I’ve had in a long time,’ he said about it. At ‘my’ Kaddour in Amsterdam-Noord, there are consistently long queues outside, because that grilled sausage has one hell of a reputation.

And imagine my surprise: this weekend I suddenly spotted Kaddour’s chicken grilled sausage in the halal section at Albert Heijn.

Albert Heijn even sells two varieties: Kaddour plain chicken grilled sausage and Kaddour Madame Jeanette chicken grilled sausage. The latter is the spicy version of the iconic chicken grilled sausage, made with a special blend of spices and fresh Madame Jeanette peppers. The spiciness is mainly in the crust. Both sausages cost €3.99 for a 200-gram sausage. The plain sausage is delicious on a white bread roll. You can eat it cold, but it’s even better if you warm it up first. Cold slices or cubes of the spicy sausage on a drinks platter are also highly recommended.
