Your kitchen deserves this candle after you’ve cooked so hard in it

Stank-Favorflav

There are several ways to remove food smells from your home as effectively as possible, or try to prevent them. Not cooking (or getting takeaway/having food delivered) is of course not one of them! And if you’re trying to banish the smell of trassi from nasi goreng, or of deliciously hard-roasted cauliflower in a truly stylish way, then this may soon be just the thing for you!

Because if we can believe the hyper-enthusiastic reviews, this is the scented candle to end all scented candles. At least if you want to mask or remove food smells, because in the bathroom you may have very different needs. But the product description alone makes us particularly eager to get our hands on one, especially when it’s described as a digestif for your kitchen…

Worldly delicious

The Digestif, as the candle is called, is made from olive oil, Californian soy, neroli (from orange trees) and vetiver; an Asian grass. According to Brightland, the company behind the candle, the olive oil protects the essential fragrance oils from direct burning, which means the candle continues to smell wonderful for a very long time.

Peppermint for your kitchen

One of the editors at food magazine Bon Appétit’s is truly lyrical about it: she describes it as a digestif for your nose rather than your taste buds, or as brushing your teeth for the kitchen. Beautiful enough to light on the table at the end of a dinner with guests, but also lovely when you’ve simply cooked for yourself and are doing the dishes. ‘And then, when I stumble down the stairs the next morning, the room smells like a lovely boutique filled with beautiful things I can’t afford, instead of last night’s fish’.

Well, with a description like that, you’ve got us—you’ve sold us! The American company Brightland doesn’t deliver internationally yet, but recommends keeping an eye on the website because international shipping will probably be available soon. We’re ready and waiting…
