You’re doing it wrong! This is how to close a cereal box

There are bigger problems, but still: a box of stale cornflakes that are no longer crunchy but soft and musty is not pleasant. Luckily, we have Katy, who shows on TikTok how you should fold your cereal box closed.

According to Katy, the simple instructions once appeared on a Kellogg’s box. She always does it this way – and in her household, even the last crumbs of the breakfast cereal remain light and crunchy. What a life!

You want that too. How do you do it?

• Carefully open the box at the top. Don’t get impatient and tear it apart!
• Fold the flaps inward.
• Now comes the trick: fold a crease along the sides.
• The inward-folded flaps then push against each other. This presses the box closed.

Million viewers can’t be wrong

Thinking now: what’s this all about? Katy’s video was viewed nearly a million times and received almost two hundred thousand likes on TikTok. Katy was so startled by that that she took the video offline again. She wasn’t wearing any makeup and thought she pronounced the word ‘cereal’ strangely. In a follow-up video, in which she explains that you can also fold a box of Wheetos (another kind of sweet cornflakes) closed this way, she received some critical reactions. ‘Who has time for that!’ grumbled one reader. ‘It doesn’t take long,’ says Katy, ‘and surely we all have plenty of time now?’
