He may be the King of Barbecue, but when he goes out to eat, Jord Althuizen would actually rather skip the slabs of meat for a change. In collaboration with Tabasco®, FavorFlav found out where he does like to go out to eat. These are Jord’s 5 favorite hotspots in South Holland, his home region.

Les Copains, Delft

“A nice little place run by Debbie and Eric Ketel. One of the few fine-dining concepts still around in Delft. I like going there for fish and white wine. Eric worked in the kitchen at Seinpost when they had a Michelin star, so he certainly knows how to cook.”

Old Scuola, Rotterdam

“Pizza makers who started out as a food truck and opened this restaurant two years ago. I’ve already eaten there twice with the crew. After the first time, I was back there with my children a week later. That’s the kind of place it is. They serve real Neapolitan pizza with ultra-fluffy dough. Absolutely fantastic. But the starters and desserts are delicious too. Tip: the changing vegetable dish is a wonderful starter. I recently had Brussels sprouts with egg and Parmesan on top. A real eye-opener: so delicious that I ordered a second portion.” He laughs: “Yes, a second portion of Brussels sprouts at a pizzeria. Pretty bizarre, right?”

Roffa Food, Rotterdam

“I find many barbecue restaurants a little boring, but here they give the classics a creative twist. Burgers with great habanero sauces; a bit of a Caribbean/Mexican twist. And they have tasty beers. It’s a fun, laid-back place where they do more than the standard, predictable spots. Just chill.”

De Sjees, Delft

“When I’m in Delft, have had enough of all the shopping and think: I want beer. Then I go to De Sjees. It’s behind the Old Town Hall, so you might think it’s a tourist trap, but it’s actually a quality little place with very friendly people. They have delicious beers on tap, with plenty of variety. Absolutely one of my favorite spots for drinks and snacks.”
