Oh, the struggle of slicing cheese… It’s a delicate matter, and during our office lunch tempers can sometimes run high. Colleague Adeline in particular can’t stand the way some people cut their cheese. Slicing from the top or from the side; apparently there are even people who see psychological connections in it (more or less the same idea as people who drink black coffee being psychopaths).

The six best cheese-slicing tools for your cheese

Anyway: with these cheese tools, you’ll be the boss of every cheese and colleague of the week. And you won’t have to go to the supermarket to buy one of those ridiculous quantities of bags of cheese… (we continue to be amazed by this…)

The best cheese slicer

Simple, razor-sharp and therefore effective. The Boska cheese slicer effortlessly cuts through buttery young cheese, deliciously matured cheese and tangy aged cheese. You can’t tell from its simple appearance that this sharp little tool slices so smoothly, but don’t be fooled. It works perfectly, partly because of the so-called ‘non-stick’: the waffle pattern on the blade, which allows it to glide easily through the cheese. It is made of stainless steel, which keeps the cheese from sticking to the blade and means it can simply go in the dishwasher. Price: €16.49.

The cheese grating box

Boska’s Easy Grater is used for grating semi-hard and hard cheeses. This handy tool has a container beneath the grater that catches everything immediately. The cutting surface is made of stainless steel, so it won’t rust in the dishwasher. Price: €10.99.

The cheese grating mill

Don’t really enjoy grating? Then the mill (also by Boska) is perfect. You turn a mill instead of making that up-and-down motion. Afterwards, the cheese can go straight over your plate of warm pasta. Also handy for chocolate, nutmeg and ginger. Price: €21.99.

The Microplane

The Microplane is indispensable in the kitchen for many a chef. This classic stainless-steel tool has a star-shaped profile suitable for grating chocolate, hard cheese, cinnamon, ginger and citrus zest. Price: €27.50.

The designer grater

Some people simply have a soft spot for kitchen design. Are you one of them? Then the ‘Flexy’, designed by Ely Rozenberg, is perfect. You can store this tool flat in your kitchen drawer and roll it up for use. It also has a handle, which makes it easier to use. According to the designer, you use eighty percent less water while washing up, because this grater is easy to clean thanks to its flat design. Price: €30.37.

The classic

Do you like classic, sturdy design? Then this classic square grater is for you. Each side has a different profile, making it easy to finely grate or shred various ingredients and products. After use, it also fits easily in your dishwasher. Price €27.95.
