10x opinions about food that people are particularly adamant about

Do you have an opinion or a stance on food that you stand behind so firmly that nothing or no one could ever make you doubt it? It may of course be an opinion that won’t win you any friends in culinary circles, but your tenacity in sticking to it might nevertheless be admirable. These people certainly have that…

Just as coriander can divide people, or the claim that a particular garlic bread from the supermarket really isn’t tasty can spark countless reactions, there are of course countless opinions. On the internet platform Reddit, people were asked “What culinary hill are you willing to die on?” and these were some of the best and funniest among the nearly thirty thousand responses:
Health freak

“You can’t just replace things in a baking recipe because you desperately want to make it ‘healthy’ and then give the recipe a bad review because it’s no longer edible.”
Broken teeth

“Garnishes should be edible. You shouldn’t just put stones and branches on a plate because they look pretty. Fight me.”
Budget is best

“Do you know what really takes talent and is therefore all the more impressive? Making cheap food genuinely delicious.”
The one and only

“Life is too short not to eat real butter.” [And this is the tastiest butter!]
So pretentious

“Putting gold leaf on food is f***ing stupid.”
There are limits
“A hamburger should simply fit in your mouth. It shouldn’t be held together with a skewer, and you certainly shouldn’t need cutlery to eat it.”
Blah blah blah

“If you’re sharing a recipe, share a recipe. Don’t turn it into an autobiography.” [Haha!]
There’s always room for another clove

“If you think that’s enough garlic, it’s probably not enough garlic.”
Character trait

“Being so snobbish about food that you take the pleasure out of it for other people is not a positive quality.”
Turn up the heat

“Barbecuing over charcoal gives food a much better flavor than cooking over gas.”
