10x supermarket customer statements that are just really weird

When you hear our anonymous sources go off about bizarre supermarket customers, you won’t believe your ears. Earlier, cashiers already let loose, but it turns out there’s more to laugh about. “Psst, can I get a pack of condoms from you?”

It’s always in the back
‘I was stocking the shelves with chocolate and a customer was looking for a chocolate bar that wasn’t there. So I went to the back to check, but the AH hazelnut chocolate bar couldn’t be found there either. According to the customer, that was impossible: “It’s an AH own-brand product, so it must be in the back.” The woman thought there was a factory behind the supermarket and didn’t understand that it had to come from a distribution center. Then she angrily announced that she was going to file a complaint. Well then.’
Under 18, no…
‘Alcohol, cigarettes… you really have to be 18 for those. But not everyone is willing to accept that. “Can I have a pack of Marlboro Gold?” Sure, but can I see your ID first? But no, the man didn’t have it with him. Angry when he doesn’t get them: “I bought them from you last time too!” I see thousands of faces a day; no ID means no cigarettes, buddy.’
Where’s the checkout?
‘Patience is a virtue, right? Well, not for everyone. Some people really have nerve and ask, while you’re busy stocking shelves — I REPEAT, STOCKING SHELVES — whether they can pay at your checkout. What do you think? That’s what the checkouts are for.’

Awkward…
‘I get it, buying condoms is a little awkward. I understand that you don’t want to shout it loudly across the entire store, but do you know how to make it even more uncomfortable as a customer? By whispering: “Psst, can I get a pack of condoms from you?” So it’s almost impossible to hear, and then still saying: “They’re not for me, okay.”‘
For decoration?
‘My little brother works in the fish department at the supermarket. That poor boy has a hard time with all the stupid comments he gets. A customer pointed at an oyster and sincerely asked: “Is this edible or is it for decoration?” Well, then you still have to give a serious answer too…’

Will I get a discount then?
‘Well, we’re Dutch, after all. We love products that are cheap and we love discounts. But some people try to haggle over literally everything. “Can I have this toilet paper for less? It’s already a little open.” And this several times a week whenever a piece of packaging is loose… Please…’
You like those too, don’t you…
‘This one is REALLY RUDE. I’m scanning my own groceries and the croissants come along, beep beep, prompting the customer to say: “Nice, croissants, looks like you like those too.” Not all of us are a size 36 these days, so keep that comment to yourself!’
Can I send you a payment request?
‘Just to be clear: at the supermarket, you have to pay for your groceries immediately. But there are actually people who literally ask: “Can I pay tomorrow?” Uh, no, we don’t do payment requests at the supermarket, otherwise we’d never get anything done. So come on: pay, pack your groceries and take them with you — that’s how a supermarket works.’
Must be free
‘It can happen that a product’s barcode is damaged, but some people think that automatically means they can take it for free: “Oh, you can’t scan it, so it must be free.” Seriously, people…’
