30 of the most delicious Christmas boxes from restaurants to cook at home this Christmas

Central Park Voorburg

This year, the holidays will be different from usual. Instead of sitting down to Christmas dinner with a large group, it will be a very small gathering this year. The advantage: you don’t have to spend days slaving away in the kitchen to put together a Christmas dinner for 20 people. Or even better: don’t get started yourself with difficult beef Wellingtons, roasts, roulades and shrimp cocktails at all, but leave it to the best chefs in our country!

That’s what many people are planning to do; research* shows that one third of Dutch people (33%) are considering ordering dinner online during this atypical Christmas. The chance of an online-ordered festive meal being on the table is even greater among young couples and families: almost half of all 18–34-year-olds are open to an online-ordered festive meal. And who could blame them? Whether you go for a luxury box from a Michelin-starred chef, an irresistibly delicious charcuterie board or a wine box, it promises to be a particularly delicious Christmas! We’ve listed the coolest, tastiest and most original Christmas boxes for you, and above all wish you a loving and delicious Christmas!

Sergio Herman at the table

The ‘Le Pristine Christmas Menu’ from one of the best-known Dutch star chefs is a festive four-course menu that starts with sea bass tartare, followed by a starter with potato, shrimp and mussels. Sounds good already, right? The main course consists of lobster ragout and mushroom ravioli. Finish with a pineapple tarte tatin with Amalfi lemon. And half of the ingredients haven’t even been mentioned yet… Sergio also includes a filled Christmas loaf for breakfast the next day—how cozy. For 95 euros per person, you can feast like royalty at your own kitchen table. Order the menu here.

Walsjérôt à la Maison

In September, Walsjérôt opened its doors: a Rotterdam wine bar with more than 70 wines by the glass that you can pour yourself. Had you just got a taste for it? Good news: with Walsjérôt à la Maison, you can continue tasting at home. The wine bar has put together tasting packs containing five or ten special wines from its selection. You receive them in small 100 ml bottles. So afterward, you aren’t left with lots of open wine bottles, but can taste many wines side by side—just like at the wine bar. The tasting boxes also include wine information cards, tasting forms, an aroma wheel and a €5 wine pass that you can spend once the wine bar reopens. You also get access to videos in which the sommeliers guide you through the tasting. More information or ready to order? Take a look at the website.

Exclusive restaurant-quality meat

Hospitality supplier Nice to Meat is known for its superb meat. As a supplier to top restaurants and hotels, it has reserved a large number of special cuts in its dry-aging cellar for, among other things, Christmas packages at hotels. Under the new measures, hotels are no longer allowed to serve food, so these specials are now available for home use. And the great thing is, you don’t have to be a top chef to make something wonderful with them. A beautiful piece of meat already tastes so fantastic on its own that all you really need to do is grill or fry it, add something simple, and you have a wonderful, chic meal. From traditional roulades to exclusive Japanese Wagyu; this is the perfect opportunity to let such a showpiece shine on your festively set table. Order via the webshop.

Feast with BUNK

With the holiday box from BUNK, you can easily put a luxurious four-course dinner on the table. The menu consists of Christmas classics from world cuisine with a surprising twist. Enjoy a shrimp cocktail to start, followed by mushroom ragout with truffle. For the main course, choose between a braised beef chuck roulade with red-wine gravy, a green-cabbage roulade or monkfish with beurre rouge. And we haven’t even mentioned dessert: brûléed meringue with peanut ice cream, nougatine, salted caramel, ganache and a chocolate shard. Did you know that for every Christmas dinner sold, BUNK delivers a meal to elderly people in Utrecht who feel lonely? Now that’s the true spirit of Christmas… BUNK’s holiday box can be ordered for €40 via the website.

Drinks and star dining with Michelin-starred restaurant Aan de Zweth

Michelin-starred restaurant Aan de Zweth knows better than anyone how to get you in the festive mood for a culinary Christmas dinner. The ADZ aperitif box is packed with top-quality products: charcuterie from home and abroad, delicious cheeses, toast with spreads, ADZ rolls with fenugreek butter, marinated olives and a bottle of white house wine. Seasoned snackers can indulge with the extra-deluxe version. In addition to the aperitifs mentioned above, this box also contains pata negra, duck liver terrine, lobster salad and a bottle of champagne instead of the house wine. The aperitif box can be ordered from €60 via the website. And would you like to complete the culinary Christmas feast (and still have room after all the delights from the aperitif box)? Aan de Zweth also offers an extensive Christmas menu for home.

Special flavors such as maple syrup, cinnamon and ice make for a great evening at home. Would you like to order this box and/or cocktails, or would you like more information? Get in touch via info@the-butcher.com or call +31 20 215 95 15.

Qalkoen: turkey on a mission

Would you like to eat turkey while also doing your bit to give children in Dutch hospitals a festive Christmas and the most pleasant stay possible? Treat yourself or someone else to a Qalkoen, a quality turkey from Vleeschmeester. For every Qalkoen sold, €10 is donated to the foundations of the four largest specialized children’s hospitals in the Netherlands. The Qalkoenen are filled with a farce of minced veal, plums, apricot, cranberries, walnuts, pistachios and Vleeschmeester’s spice mix. The Qalkoenen are festively packaged, neatly delivered to your front door and supplied with clear preparation instructions. Qalkoen packages can be ordered via the website.

Pizza party

Are you no kitchen whiz and would you rather go for a pizza party? You can! Toni Loco has put together a box made entirely of Italian traditions for this time of year. All the dishes in the box create a delicious three-course dinner: a bottle of Pinot Grigio, San Daniele ham, Toni Loco pizza with Pizza Roll Twister, a mini panettone and biscotti cookies. Is Christmas not complete for you without a beautiful glass of champagne? Then choose the Champagne box, which comes with a lovely bottle of Ruinart. You can easily order the box via Uber Eats or from Toni Loco.

Luxury winter menu from Central Park Voorburg

The Deluxe December Menu from Central Park Voorburg can be ordered in four, five or six courses. Fill the Christmas table with special dishes such as langoustines and caviar, lobster ravioli and venison fillet with winter vegetables, and finish with pure chocolate mousse. The menus come with clear video instructions, as does the accompanying wine pairing. Tip: as if a table full of delicious food weren’t festive enough, at Central Park Voorburg you can also order atmospheric table decorations. Here’s to worry-free holidays! The menus can be ordered from 59.50 euros via the website. Orders can be collected in Voorburg or delivered free of charge in the The Hague region.

Triptyque, with table styling

For eight years, Triptyque has offered a changing, festive Christmas menu. So they’re quite experienced at it! Everything is prepared, and with the step-by-step plan you finish the dinner yourself. (We previously tried Triptyque’s home menu and liked it very much.) Choose from four courses (49.50 euros per person) or five courses (64.50 euros per person), and everything can be expanded with cheese, oysters, wine and champagne. And since Triptyque’s chef and owner, Niven Kunz, is known as a ‘vegetable chef’—he previously worked at De Librije and earned his first Michelin star at 24—there is naturally a vegetarian menu too! Whichever menu you choose, you can even order complete or partial table styling. Choose from a complete tableware set on a rental basis (four people, 65 euros) or a lovely basic package that can be purchased (four people, 30 euros). You can collect the menu on 24 or 25 December between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Signature dishes from ’t Schulten Hues* by Peter Gast

In collaboration with Miele Nederland, chef-patron Peter Gast and sommelier and hostess Jacqueline van Liere are cooking a festive menu featuring four signature classics from their former gastrobar ’t Schulten Hues*. The restaurant, which closed its doors in 2018, was famous and award-winning for its innovative wine-and-food pairings and use of seasonal local produce. In the so-called ‘Miele Reunion Box’, alongside all the ingredients needed for a four-course dinner, you’ll find candles and napkins, a Spotify playlist and an approximately one-hour digital cooking workshop explaining step by step how to prepare their signature dishes yourself. One of these dishes is the langoustine. Alec Steur, a former Michelin inspector, called ’t Schulten Hues*’ langoustine one of the most delicious dishes among the eight to nine thousand dishes he had ever tasted in an interview with DWDD! The cost is €60 per person, excluding wine. A wine pairing can be ordered optionally. This costs €59.95 or €127.95 (for two people). Order the menu here.

Rice table from Toko Syrco

Toko Syrco is a collaboration between Iman Soomers, Sergio Herman and Syrco Bakker, Sergio’s right-hand man with Indonesian roots; they have worked together in Cadzand for more than 10 years. The Toko Syrco dinner box consists of a complete and varied rice table with traditional and authentic dishes such as rendang, sambal goreng green beans and gado gado. You don’t need to do anything else to the dishes in the box. All you need is an oven or microwave. Delicious and easy! One box serves four people, costs €135 and contains 19 different Indonesian dishes. You can order the dinner box online; it is delivered throughout the Netherlands and Flanders. Naturally, you can also collect it from one of the two pick-up locations in Cadzand or Knokke.

Super sushi from MOMO

Why eat turkey at Christmas when you’d much rather eat sushi? No idea! I wouldn’t give it another thought either, but would simply bring home the ‘Signature MOMO Box’. It contains all the classics and is delivered in a white suit. Sushi, ceviche, tacos and many other dishes create a high-level Christmas menu. So you still get an elaborate Christmas dinner without having to do much yourself. Order via this link.

Bernardus dream box

Bernardus is a well-known name among wine lovers! And for these people, this is a perfect opportunity: a five-course Bernardus ‘Taste a Dream’ box. Bar Brasserie De Haven Club has put this box together especially for Christmas. Why that name? Because Bernardus makes dreams come true! At least those of former Dutch racing driver Ben Pon (1936–2019), who bought a piece of land in California in 1989. There he started his Bernardus Winery, with the aim of producing red wines that could rival the greatest Bordeaux wines. Well, he succeeded! And that Chardonnay? One sip and you’re sold. For €77.50 per person, you get a more than regal menu—including ceviche and guinea fowl—with five glasses of Bernardus wine; naturally, both the white and red wines are included in this box. To order or take a closer look at the menu, take a look here.

Ron Blaauw’s new Gold Edition box

After the immense success of the Rice Table at Home (which you can still order), Ron is bringing out the Gold Edition box especially for the holidays, in three versions: fish, meat and vegetarian. This new Gold Edition box was launched especially for the festive month and is filled with an authentic four-course Indonesian menu, specially created and prepared by Indonesian chef Agus Hermawan. Besides being really delicious (we got to taste it in advance!), it’s suitable for everyone and easy to prepare in no time. For two people, you pay €85, regardless of which of the three versions—meat, fish or vegetarian—you order. Order here. Selamat Makan!

Herman den Blijker’s golden Christmas

You can also pick up (or have delivered) delicious Christmas boxes in Rotterdam. Restaurant GOUD from well-known Rotterdam chef Herman den Blijker offers an all-out five-course Christmas menu for €69.50 per person. The menu includes thinly sliced rib-eye, gravad lax, truffle soup and a frangipane tart. You can make the Take Goud Out menu even more luxurious by adding caviar, oysters, lobster, confit de canard or cheese—for a great price, too. A nice bottle of wine is naturally an option as well. You can order the menu via WhatsApp.

Two stars from François Geurds

Planning to go all out this Christmas? Then choose the five-course dinner prepared by two-Michelin-star chef Francois Geurds of FG Restaurant in Rotterdam.
