4 of the tastiest sandwiches in Breda

tosti

Besides Breda being packed with lovely spots for dining, tasting specialty beer and drinking the best cups of coffee, you can also find incredibly delicious sandwiches here. As a Breda local, I’m happy to tell you where my favorites are made.

Pk’tje

At Super Sandwich on the Ginnekenweg, you can eat Breda’s most famous sandwich. Order the famous Pk’tje (spicy chicken sandwich) here and eat it while strolling through the city. A roast beef sandwich and the club sandwich with ravigotte are also part of the delicious (and thankfully!) timeless selection.

Breda classic

Latour is a small delicatessen in the middle of the city center, with 21 different filled sandwiches on the lunch menu. I keep coming back for the sandwich with serrano ham and soy mayonnaise, and the one with the typical Breda cheese salad. Choose a spot at the back of the shop among the wine bottles to eat your sandwich.

Asian Tosti

The Tosti Club—you can probably see this coming—serves toasted sandwiches. In all shapes and sizes, that is. Naturally, you can sink your teeth into the old familiar toasted sandwich with young cheese and farmhouse ham. But how about an Asian toasted sandwich with peanut butter, sambal, chicken and bean sprouts? Adventurous? Perhaps. But above all, very tasty.

The ‘Jammie Tosti’ with mascarpone, Nutella and banana goes straight to your thighs, but you can easily walk it off again with a day in Breda. Looking for (even) more of a sugar rush? Then there’s the raisin bread with mascarpone, apple, cinnamon and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For the real DIY enthusiasts: you can also build your own toasted sandwich here.

Heavenly sandwich

Hemels serves delicious carpaccio. Whether or not you add it, a real lunch highlight is the version with fried eggs. It consists of two slices of bread topped with carpaccio and, on top of that, not 1 or 2, but 3 fried eggs. Sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and pine nuts. So that’s lunch and dinner in one. Do the math. Cheers!
