5 best blenders right now

Recently, we wrote about how the shape of a blender jug affects the result. Perhaps that got you all blending, puréeing and crushing ice, or maybe you’re planning to buy a new one. And in the latter case, this list might come in handy!

Because extensive research has been carried out into the best blenders right now, and they have been tested on all kinds of qualities: how well they purée frozen fruit, crush ice, how easy they are to clean, how quiet and easy they are to use—in short: all things you want to know before spending your money. Of course, it always pays to do some thorough comparative research yourself as well. Read as many reviews as possible, and think about what you use a blender for most.
The best blenders
The results below come from a test conducted by the lab of the Good Housekeeping Institute, and may be relevant to you too. The blenders were tested for different purposes, so there is something here for many preferences:
Best blender for baking: Ninja Foodi Food Processor and Blender
The test panel considered this machine most suitable if you also enjoy baking. You can make perfectly good smoothies with it, but it also has a handy dough and whisking function. It is also the most wallet-friendly option on this list: available from €119.99.
Best blender for soup: Zwilling Enfinigy Blender
Zwilling is known for its knives, so it comes as no surprise that the chopping blades in this blender are top quality. It purées soup ingredients better than any other, and safely too: when you remove the lid, the blades stop automatically. No more tomato soup with fingertips. From €199.
Best blender with individual cups: Nutribullet Combo
Handy if you want to make a smoothie to take with you straight away, because as well as using the larger cup/jug, you can also purée in one of the separate takeaway cups. Carefully turn it upside down, switch the lid, and off you go! From €159.95.
A very good blender (but not cheap): KitchenAid K150
Apparently, these things are considerably cheaper in America, and Good Housekeeping considered this the best ‘budget’ blender. But the two hundred and fifty euros you pay for it here in the Netherlands do not strike us as particularly ‘budget’. Still, it is a beautiful thing, and we know from experience that KitchenAids can crush ice like crazy, which comes in very handy for the weekly weekend cocktails. From €269.
Best Blender, period: Vitamix E310 Explorian
Apart from the fact that it costs a small fortune, the test panel genuinely liked everything about this appliance. Blending margaritas, making peanut butter, grinding coffee beans, standing firmly and quietly on the countertop, and even a self-cleaning function; this wonder machine is apparently truly worth its high purchase price. From €549.99.
