5 really good reasons to eat at an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant

AllYouCanEat-favorflav

The official name is world restaurant, but colloquially this is simply called an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant: large restaurants with an extensive buffet where, for a fixed price, you can eat whatever you want, as much as you want. Sounds like hell to foodies, but in practice it’s really not that bad. Five reasons why it’s genuinely not a bad idea to make a reservation at one of these all you can eat buffet restaurants sometime.

People who don’t like anything will eat everything here

Everyone has one of those colleagues, siblings or sports buddies: no garlic, nothing with onions, preferably no bones in the food, tomatoes are disgusting and what are those green things in the sauce, yuck! In short: a pain in the neck. Where do you go out to eat when you have someone like that in your group? Answer: a world restaurant. Because the choice is so extensive, the food is prepared right under their noses and because there are also just plain chicken nuggets available, there’s a very good chance they’ll enjoy eating here. At least you’ll have the whole family at the table.

Drinks are included

This is easy to sum up: you pay one fixed price and that’s it. Drinks are included. Not just Fristi and Fanta, but beer and wine too. So it’s a great place to meet up with the whole hockey team before a night out. Get a good base in your stomach – and off you go.

Tasty surprises on the buffet

We’ll leave the Russian salad, mini frikandellen and babi pangang alone, thank you very much, but buffets like these sometimes feature surprisingly delicious bites too. Beautiful steak, fresh crab legs, lobster, plump prawns and super-fresh sushi rolled right before your eyes. Take a critical look at what’s on offer and make the most of it.

Children are more than welcome

Admittedly, that’s not a recommendation for everyone. But if you’re eating out with a few children, especially if they’re at the running-around age, this is an excellent place. They’ll entertain themselves just fine, experiment enthusiastically with sushi with strawberry sauce, deep-fried shrimp with powdered sugar and nasi goreng fries, but no one will be bothered by it, especially if you make an early-evening reservation. In fact, even if you bring along a few genuine hooligans, there’s a good chance that much worse little yobs will be running around here. You’ll even come away with a good feeling about your parenting skills.

There’s a chocolate fountain

As kitschy as it gets, but still: warm chocolate over cream puffs, surely that’s heavenly? And how about a homemade dame blanche made with a few scoops of vanilla ice cream and a generous amount of chocolate sauce? Nothing wrong with that. If you have a serious sweet tooth, graze your way through the entire dessert buffet and hold marshmallows, wine gums and speculaas cookies under the chocolate tap too.
