A visit to the supermarket is an outing. Especially when you come across the weirdest things. Because how on earth do they come up with them? This time: 7 weird products you can find at Dirk.
Chicken corn snack roll
They must have thought at Dirk: let’s simply go down the snack bar’s order list and put everything in a bread roll. And honestly, why not? Frikandel rolls and croquette rolls were weird at first too; now we can’t live without them.
Grill sausage with cheese
Yeeeah, opinions are divided on this one. But honestly: I think it’s weird. Cheese NEXT to grill sausage on a snack platter? Yes, delicious. Cheese IN grill sausage? No.
Cauliflower and broccoli duo (in a LOT of plastic)
There’s nothing wrong with cauliflower and broccoli. In fact, they’re simply super delicious (why not check out this insanely tasty TikTok recipe for broccoli with feta, for example). What is wrong with this? So. Much. Plastic. Seriously, Dirk, was it really necessary to put these two in a plastic tray with yet another layer of plastic film around it? And let’s not even mention the fact that these products were brought all the way from Spain. Meh…
Cookies & cream bundt cake
A favorite of many for years: cookies & cream (or, in other words: Oreos). The flavor has already been incorporated into donuts and muffins, ice cream cake, and now bundt cake too. We know it tastes good, so we’ll probably buy it anyway.
Campagne Pils (or champagne pilsner?)
I had genuinely never heard of Campagne Pils before. It’s a soft drink by Raak (the brand behind Raak kids’ cola, which you may remember—with that fantastic slogan, ‘Drink maar Raak’) and it tastes a little like cola. Officially, it’s actually supposed to be called champagne pilsner (never heard of that either—how credible am I as a foodie now?!), but Raak decided to put its own spin on it. Champagne beer, on the other hand, I do know. It just doesn’t taste like cola. Confusion all around!
Jojo Siwa strawberry drink
Children’s idols are no longer allowed on food packaging, which is why you can hardly find these nostalgic school cookies anywhere anymore. According to the Advertising Code for Food Products, this applies at least to products that don’t meet the nutritional guidelines. Well, in my opinion, this sickly sweet sugar bomb is the very definition of a product that doesn’t meet them. Kind of odd that we’re seeing this on the shelves.
Fanta What The Fanta No sugar mix
You may think that after drinking this bright pink beverage you’ll immediately need to make a dentist’s appointment, but don’t panic: apparently, it contains no sugar. Woohoo! What does it taste like? No idea—you’ll have to tell us after you’ve tried it. That’s the WTF effect of this What The Fanta.
