10x the strangest products from Jumbo (who comes up with this?!)

A visit to the supermarket is an outing. Especially when you come across the strangest things. Because how on earth do they come up with them? This time: 10 weird products you can find at Jumbo.

Pizza Swirls
When I look at this product, I immediately get confused. Is it a wrap they’ve called pizza? Or is it a bizarrely thin, rolled-up pizza that looks like a wrap? What makes it so ‘pizza-like’, then? So many questions. Jumbo, help us out!

Bossche bol pie
At first glance, this product seems strange because it’s a pastry inside a pastry. A Bossche bol in/on a pie, in other words. But at the same time I think: GENIUS! Of course this needs to exist.

Edible cookie dough
In my opinion, edible cookie dough is pretty much the unhealthiest thing there is to eat in the entire world. Whatever, Jumbo thought—let’s sell it. By the way: a tub of cookie dough really is perfect comfort food. You know, when you’re feeling particularly sorry for yourself and just want to stuff your face with disgustingly delicious food.
Mini croquettes
For when you’re in the mood for a croquette sandwich, but not so much that you want a whole sandwich. When two bites are enough, so to speak. Because sometimes you just feel that way. I think, anyway. A fun addition to a drinks platter, though.

Hummus mango & coconut
People experiment with hummus more often (did you know that hummus ice cream even exists?!). Still, I find the hummus and mango-coconut combination particularly remarkable. We already know mango-coconut, but in hummus? I have my doubts about whether hummus’s umami flavour is a good match for the sweetness of coconut. I’m also rather doubtful about the spelling—‘Houmous’.

Mexican-style layered dip
A Whole. Lot. Happens. in this dip. First a layer of chilli sauce, then a layer of guacamole, then a layer of crème fraîche and then another layer of grated cheese. A sort of complete nacho dish in one plastic tub—minus the nacho chips, that is. We know the flavour combination works—we all know nachos—but still… Are we really going to have to make nothing ourselves anymore, and can we genuinely buy absolutely everything in a ready-made tub?
Fish fries
Do you enjoy a tasty piece of fish with your chips and have you been thinking lately: surely this could be more efficient? Then here’s your solution: fish fries from Jumbo. Fry once and your meal is complete.
Brabant-style snack mix
The big question with this product is: what makes it Brabant-style? Are the snacks made from sausage rolls? Do they taste like Bossche bollen? Are they shaped like the Brabant flag? I have no idea.

Sliced hotel cake
For when you have a hotel and want to serve cake there, but can’t be bothered to slice it yourself. I can’t make anything more of it than that.
Ginger-flavoured sidewalk chalk
This sounds absolutely disgusting to me. Let sidewalk chalk sweets remain as they are—deliciously liquorice- and salmiak-like—and don’t innovate with crazy flavour additions. (Or is there someone who has tried them and is a huge fan?)
