7 things McDonald’s employees really don’t appreciate
You think: this is fun, but the McDonald’s employee behind the counter is thinking: please, hurry up a little. Here are seven things you can do and avoid to make the work (and life) of an employee like that a little easier.
Of course, it’s nice to chat with the employees at McDonald’s, and to turn your trip through the Drive-Thru into a festive outing for the whole family. But seriously: when it’s busy, there are simply things that drive employees absolutely crazy. No idea what they might be? Keep reading…
#1: A vague order
All the options and sizes can sometimes be a bit much. Do you want small, medium or large fries? Which soft drink with your meal? And which sauce with the nuggets? Think beforehand about what you’d like to eat, so you don’t have to decide only when the employee is entering your order into the computer.
#2: You let your child order
Cute, right? Your little darling shyly saying what they’d like to eat? And of course the employee keeps smiling, but in their head: grrrr… Because the line is getting longer, and naturally the little one doesn’t know exactly what they want to drink either. Just order for your child yourself; it’s much faster.
#3: Ordering for the entire team
Have you taken orders for the entire football team, plus supporters? Place that order inside, not at the Drive-Thru. It’s intended for quick and easy orders, and twelve different meals obviously don’t qualify.
#4: Talking immediately at the microphone
You pull up to the McDrive microphone and immediately start talking. Not helpful—wait until the employee has responded. The people taking orders through the microphone have plenty of other tasks to handle, so wait a moment.
#5: Asking for ‘the same’
Even if you regularly visit McDonald’s, it’s not very helpful to simply ask for ‘the same as last time’. Did you really think they would remember that?
#6: Asking for advice
Seriously? Do people actually do this at the Maccie counter? Stop it—you’re not in a fine-dining restaurant, so asking the employee ‘What would you recommend?’ is truly ridiculous.
#7: Asking for extra dipping sauce, mayo or ketchup
Check whether your order is complete, so you don’t have to push your way back through the line halfway through your box of nuggets or fries because you didn’t get any fry sauce. Annoying and time-consuming.
