Even if you only keep half an eye on the national media, you’ve probably heard about this: a frikandel shortage is looming. We know that many of you are frikandel lovers, and we can imagine that if you get a lot of joy out of this snack, this news will leave you tearing your hair out…

Because what’s going on? Raw material shortages, explosively rising gas and energy prices, and staff shortages have now become the order of the day and are causing production and delivery problems in many areas. As a result, the frikandel now also threatens to become a rarity.

Staff shortage leads to frikandel shortage

Is that a problem? Many snack lovers certainly think so! With a heavy heart, they will probably hear the news that, according to its own statement, one of the largest frikandel manufacturers in the Netherlands is struggling with staffing problems and therefore cannot supply the quantities requested. Media also report that snackbar owners were recently allowed to order a maximum of just ten boxes of frikandellen.

Alternative snacks

So it might be bad luck if you want to organise a ‘high frikandel’, or if you’re standing at the snackbar. What would the alternative be? A high kroket, or a high bamischijf?
