Aperol Spritz remains a hit: record revenue for Campari

aperol spritz

No matter how loudly we proclaim every year what the summer drink will be this time, Aperol Spritz has been a fixture on every terrace for years. Aperol has been around since 1919, but only became popular in the 1990s. The drink had to wait more than a hundred years to reach the height of its success – Campari is now posting record profits thanks to the immensely popular cocktail.

Campari is, after all, the brand behind Aperol Spritz. Looking at the figures from recent years, it seems that Aperol Spritz’s success is far from over.

Record revenue for Campari

2022 was already a gigantic success year for Campari, but 2023 exceeded all expectations: profits rose by 8.2 percent compared with the previous year, while Aperol sales increased by 24 percent. Total revenue: more than three billion euros. And I thought Campari was a drink on the way out…

But they weren’t unhappy in 2022 either: Aperol sales rose by 31.9 percent that year, while sales of ready-to-drink Aperol Spritz increased by 91.9 percent. Yep, those are some seriously positive figures. Fun detail: Crodino is also owned by Campari, and that is on the rise too; its sales increased by 32.3 percent. A drink I always associate with older people (mainly because my grandmother always drank it), but you can also make delicious mocktails with it.

Aperol Spritz

So the question of what this year’s summer drink will be may already be partly answered… I’m betting on Aperol Spritz, at least. You know what, I’ll make one later. Even though it’s not summer yet; Hot Aperol is also exceptionally tasty.
