Beer and cheese tasting at the Fenix Food Factory

Beer and cheese are at their best when they bring out the best in each other. On Thursday, June 15, you can taste this golden combination at the Fenix Food Factory in Rotterdam.

Creamy, fatty cheese puts a ‘layer’ over the taste buds in your mouth. This quality is known as ‘coating’. To neutralize those taste buds again for the next bite, bitterness or acidity is needed. Beer has both qualities and is carbonated. A sip of beer after a bite of cheese therefore refreshes your mouth. In this way, the products keep each other perfectly balanced.
Tasting
You understand that when we get to taste beer with cheese, we are overjoyed. Together with the Kaapse Brouwers, Booij Kaasmakers is organizing such a beer and cheese tasting on June 15 at the Fenix Food Factory. This food hall is a breeding ground for delicious food and drinks; it is not for nothing that co-founder Wouter Bijl featured in FavorFlav’s Top 100 Food Influencers.
Booij Kaasmakers
The Booij family has been making cheese for more than three hundred years. The finer points of the craft have been passed down to the current generation from an early age. They are therefore among the very best at making cheese. At their farm in Streefkerk, they make raw-milk farm cheeses using fresh milk from their neighbours.
Kaapse Brouwers
This Rotterdam brewery brews old-fashioned beers with a Rotterdam twist. For example, they make a classic blonde beer with a funky twist by adding Sichuan pepper.
The tasting takes place on June 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Fenix Food Factory in Rotterdam and costs €15 per person. You can make a reservation by sending an email to info@booijkaasmakers.nl.
