Bizarre: man steals 200,000 (!) Easter eggs from British wholesaler

Like gingerbread crumbs, Easter eggs are a topic of discussion every year. Just as we see gingerbread crumbs in stores as early as August, we can already throw Easter eggs into our shopping baskets in January. Not that I mind, though (unlike FavorFlav colleague Eddie). If there’s one thing that isn’t up for debate, it’s whether Easter eggs taste good or not. We love them. British man Joby Pool wholeheartedly agrees with us. He’s so eggcited about Easter eggs that he stole no fewer than 200,000 of them from a British industrial estate.

I have several questions about that. First: what do you do with 200,000 Easter eggs? As much as I love them, 20 eggs a day would really be my maximum. Even after 20 years, I still wouldn’t have eaten 200,000 Easter eggs. So I’m incredibly curious what this Joby plans to do with so many eggs. Maybe gain quite a few kilos? And secondly: how do you get 200,000 Easter eggs off an industrial estate quickly and without being seen?
A haul worth £31,000
Joby used a metal grinder to cut open the gates of the industrial estate in Telford, UK. He then drove onto the premises in a stolen lorry, filled a trailer with 200,000 Cadbury Creme Eggs (and other chocolate!) and made his getaway. The haul: a chocolate stash worth £31,000. That’s €34,782. This Easter bunny’s adventure didn’t last very long. Local police quickly tracked down the chocolate thief, after which they arrested him on suspicion of theft.
HEMA and Kinder Bueno eggs: yes please
So no success for this English egg thief. At least I know what I’d set my sights on if I were in a rebellious mood. The tompouce eggs from HEMA and the Kinder Bueno eggs, for sure. On second thought, I could probably get through 200,000 of those. And I definitely wouldn’t need 20 years for that…
