These are the grossest Easter eggs we’ve ever eaten

At FavorFlav, we see one unusual flavor combination after another pass by the editorial team. Sometimes we leave them alone, sometimes curiosity gets the better of our initial disgust. Enter: chocolate pizza Easter eggs.

Easter eggs are becoming increasingly exotic
In the wake of flavored spiced cookies (do you still remember these bizarre spiced-cookie flavors?) Easter eggs are also becoming increasingly exotic. Alongside the familiar tompouce Easter eggs, Hema now also has popping candy discodip, matcha-lime and vegan Easter eggs on the shelves. Jamin takes it one step further (or rather: one kilometer): how about sour belt milk chocolate eggs, banana split milk chocolate eggs, mango milk chocolate eggs, cotton candy white chocolate eggs, filled-cookie milk chocolate eggs and, hold your horses: watermelon milk chocolate eggs and pizza milk chocolate eggs?!
What would the Italians say?
Chocolate pizza Easter eggs. Yes, you read that right. With the first bite of this unlikely cross-pollination, we immediately and aghast wondered: what would the Italians say?
Domino’s pizza crust
The pizza egg actually smelled like pizza. More specifically: like pizza crust, “from Domino’s,” according to colleague Sabina.
After the first mini bite, it was immediately clear. This is simply not okay. This is so gross! A strange kind of anger washed over me. “Why the f*ck do people make this? This doesn’t make anyone happy! How can you so thoroughly violate two genius things like pizza and chocolate Easter eggs?!”
A kind of chemical tongue scrub
The beige, soft filling of the milk chocolate contained hard pieces. The effect: a kind of chemical tongue scrub. We identified the red and yellow pieces as cheese, dried tomatoes and chili powder. While Sabina cautiously continued eating and said it mainly reminded her of the ‘spicy tomato’ Cup-a-Soup flavor, I started feeling nauseous—quite unusual for someone who can effortlessly devour an entire chocolate bar.
Scented markers and cheap lip gloss
We thought we’d wash away the rancid pizza flavor with another gem from Jamin’s selection: the watermelon Easter egg. It was beautifully pink inside and simply smelled like chemical chocolate. I was hopeful. Unfortunately, the flavor wasn’t much better than the smell. The egg was so sweet that I immediately developed an irritating cough. The taste wasn’t exactly great either: chemical watermelon bubble gum meets scented markers and cheap lip gloss. Happy Easter!
