Blokker to sell own-brand coffee pods

Blokker is also going to sell own-brand coffee pods that look exactly like Nespresso pods. The pods come in four flavors and fit all coffee machines that also accept the branded pods. They are just a lot cheaper.

Blokker already stocked coffee machines under its own brand that accept these pods. From today, the household goods retailer is also selling own-brand coffee pods. They are available in four flavors, including one without caffeine. They are considerably cheaper than Nespresso pods: they cost 2.49 for twenty pods. Blokker is not the first or only store to launch coffee pods under its own brand; you can find them in every supermarket.

Banned

Those aluminum pods are not exactly environmentally friendly. The German city of Hamburg banned them years ago; at city hall, they had to go back to brewing filter coffee to reduce the mountain of waste. Rightly so, according to the Milieu Centraal organization. The capsules must go with residual waste, aluminum is expensive, and melting it requires a lot of electricity. Fortunately, there are initiatives to recycle the pods and turn them into new things, such as bicycles or new pods.
