Cheese restaurant FONDUE has opened

FONDUE vorkje

Do you love cheese the way you love your significant other? As in, a whole lot? Then hurry to Amsterdam’s Westerpark for the new cheese fondue restaurant FONDUE. Make sure you’re quick, though, because after four months, this lovely little cheese palace will be gone again.

Any cheese lover worth their salt knows it: the divine cheese shop De Kaaskamer van Amsterdam. This cheese heaven has been found on the Runstraat since time immemorial. I can’t walk in there without buying way too much cheese yet again, preferably every week. And as in today, they’ve also opened a cheese fondue restaurant—and I couldn’t be happier!

Dutch fondue, with Dutch wine

At FONDUE, the ‘extraordinaire’ cheese fondue restaurant in Westerpark, you can enjoy the tastiest French (Comté, French Gruyère, Roguefort), Swiss (Gruyère Alpage, Vacherin de Fribourgeois) and Dutch fondue (aged mature cheese, boeren gatenkaas, Petit Doruvael) from 1 November to 1 March, paired with delicious wines. Such as the Dutch Johanitter from the Betuwe region.

Vodka, yes pls

And are you, like me, scraping the last baked-on bits from the pan? Make sure you still leave room for dessert. Because the Coupe Colonel Loek—I mean: lemon sorbet with vodka—is a wonderfully fresh way to finish.

Mont d’Or Monday

FONDUE is open six days a week. And Mondays? They’re dedicated to French Mont d’Or, the absolute best melting winter cheese.

Gorgonzola ice creams

You’d better block off a day during your Christmas vacation, because alongside the ice rink they’ll be serving ‘cheese fondue on the go’—and they’ll also be at Westerpark’s Sunday Market with gorgonzola ice creams (!).
