Control freaks, this is delightful: geometric pies with a ruler alongside

Baking pies is a precise job, with ingredients carefully weighed and decorations painstakingly assembled. But Lauren Ko, a baker from Seattle, takes the whole process to an even more precise level with her geometric pies.

Lauren’s tarts and pies from LoloKitchen are decorated with tiny slices of apple, pieces of strawberry, melon, kiwi or pomegranate seeds. Sometimes Lauren colors the dough or decorations with natural food colorings such as beetroot and spirulina for an extra spectacular effect. She arranges the apple pieces by color, cuts the strawberry slices with an ultra-sharp knife and a ruler alongside them, and also sorts the floral decorations by color. Her motto: when all hell bakes loose.
- Dragonfruit, mango en lemoncurd
- Lemoncurd, gekleurd met spirulina, en kiwi
- Regenboog van appels
- Liniaal erlangs
- Ooit zo een mango gegeten?
- Gewoon een paar fruittaartjes
- Appeltaart 2.0
- Escher zou er jaloers op zijn
Baker of the year
