So, what exactly is the deal with the sustainability? Eelco Smit, Sustainability Leader at Philips Domestic Appliances: ‘By using biobased plastics made from used cooking oil, we contribute to reducing CO2 emissions, help reduce water pollution, limit the overall use of soil resources (which means a lower impact on food production), and develop products with recyclable components. It is our ambition to evolve towards a complete range of products designed with sustainability in mind.’

The Eco Conscious toaster has eight settings, including reheat and defrost functions. The automatic on/off button helps save energy. The appliance comes with a handy crumb tray and a removable dust cover to close it when storing it, and costs € 59.99.
