Stop the presses, this invention had somehow escaped our attention: you can order a little appliance online to bake mini donuts at home. Or: how to turn your own kitchen into the best-performing Dunkin’ Donuts location.
There will always be people who, even in times of crisis, are working on their six-pack and beach body, running for an hour every morning and downing only green smoothies. I don’t know these people. In the group chats and Zoom meetings where I socialize, I mostly find people who think that milk and cola together make a perfectly fine combination, that sometimes the Friday afternoon drinks happen on a Tuesday, and that eating fries twice a week is the least you can do for potato farmers. For these people: you can now order a mini donut maker through online shops, and you’ll probably want to see it whirring away in your kitchen tomorrow. For the other group: namasté, I’ll have another chipito.
Loads of stars
On the German Amazon webshop, the donut maker gets loads of stars. One user’s only criticism: the donuts brown faster on the bottom than on top, but that doesn’t matter because that’s where she spreads the icing anyway. Otherwise, nothing but praise: chic design, easy to clean and ‘Super easy zum benutzen’ (again: it’s a German site).
Super simple to make
Donut dough isn’t difficult to make: milk, yeast, flour and eggs, and you’re in business. The icing could be chocolate ganache (half cream, half chocolate) or sugar icing with a lovely chemical color. That filling? Vanilla pudding, which you can make super easily with a packet of custard powder. I don’t own any shares, but I don’t understand why every household doesn’t have one of these donut makers humming away. Twenty euros!
