Dating from a distance: this is the ideal quarantine & culinary date night!

As if single life wasn’t difficult enough already, you may finally have met someone great, only for corona to throw a serious spanner in the works. Don’t give up! With some good cooking (and plenty of wine), you’ll go a long way!

Virtual dating
Not being able to see your friends and family is bad enough. But imagine meeting someone great just before your quarantine, someone you’d really love to go on a date with. WhatsApping each other won’t stay interesting forever; some real action is needed now. The solution: a date night from a distance. Here’s how to do it:
Groceries
As always, even in these insane corona times, it all starts with the anticipation. Invite your crush to cook dinner together one evening – virtually, that is. One of you comes up with a starter, the other with a main course. Think carefully about what you want to cook! Of course you want to make an impression, but it should still be manageable for the other person. I’d also steer clear of these aphrodisiac ingredients for now… What can go on your ingredient list? Plenty of garlic! Turn the distance between you into something positive by finally being able to eat garlic on a first date. Send each other a shopping list and do the grocery shopping together, yet separately. Naturally, you’ll also discuss a good wine list.
Quarantine cooking
Love goes through the stomach, and cooking and chatting together can be incredibly calming in times of chaos like these. Position your (fully charged) phone in a good spot in the kitchen. Then make your dishes together, at the same time. Hilarity guaranteed. Explaining to someone you don’t know that well over a video call how to prepare a dish can of course go badly wrong. But hey, if you make it through this ordeal, that’s a very good sign!
Netflix & chill
After dinner by candlelight in your own living rooms, you’ll know for sure. This is fun, or it isn’t. Because honestly, if you can entertain each other over the phone for that long, it’s love. Extend your date even further by ordering, for example, a TonTon package. If you play the same game, you can move the pieces on the board for each other. The houseparty app is another good solution. If things are still getting really cozy, end the evening with a Netflix series or film, Chef’s Table, for example, and a bowl of popcorn to share. Let’s kick corona’s ass and enjoy your social (dating) life despite social distancing!
