Delicious: Make Raspatat Yourself

YouTube phenomenon Nick Toet says: forget all those complicated instructions and simply cook the way it should be done; without any fuss and to your own taste. It should hit that one particular spot that makes you say, ‘oh my god, I’ve never eaten anything this delicious’. You’ll find exactly those recipes in Eten met Nick. Great idea: make raspatat yourself.

Nick: “Don’t know what raspatat is? GO MAKE IT! Because it’s seriously awesome. I used to like this better than regular fries, especially raspatat oorlog. When I think of raspatat, I simply get a half portion. Raspatat is made from instant mashed potato powder, which gives it a very distinctive texture. So just make it.”
How to make the raspatat
- Combine the milk and hot water in a bowl. Add the instant mashed potato powder, along with the cornstarch, egg and salt. Mix everything well and spoon it into the piping bag.
- Heat the oil to 175 °C.
- Pipe portions of strands of potato dough into the deep fryer and fry them for about 2 minutes until golden brown. Remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper. Sprinkle with salt and enjoy your fries.
