Do you know this trick with empty eggshells? It’s so handy!

Guys, we already agreed on this, right? We don’t put empty eggshells back, I repeat, NOT back in the carton. We throw them away, compost them if necessary, but we don’t keep them otherwise. But, wait a minute… this tip is actually a really good one!

And you can do it straight away if you happen to have broken a lot of eggs, or at least two, or even store empty eggshells in a bag in the freezer to save them up. The only requirement is that you have a blender or immersion blender that could use some love and attention…
Super trick
Because blending or processing empty eggshells with a little water essentially sharpens the blades of those appliances! Super handy, because it’s damn difficult to do that in any other way. All you have to do is put the empty eggshells (‘fresh’ or from the freezer) in the blender or the immersion blender cup, add a little water until they’re just covered, and let the appliance run for a moment.
As good as new
Once the eggshells have been completely pulverized, you’re done, apart from the cleaning. Don’t pour the eggshell mush down the sink or toilet, but simply throw it in the trash or in a small container that goes in the glass recycling or garbage bin. Wash the blender or immersion blender cup with water and dish soap and, if all goes well, the blades will now be sharper; just see for yourself the next time you purée frozen cherries for this decadent milkshake!
