Paloma cocktail

The new Fever-Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit is made to pair with tequila. And today is the perfect moment, because on May 22 we celebrate International Paloma Day!

Fever-Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit is made from hand-picked red and pink grapefruits from Alicante, Spain. They taste sweet and sour, while also wonderfully bitter. And if you turn that into a soda… you can probably guess: it makes a delicious, lightly sweet but above all refreshing drink. Delicious to drink on its own and to use in cocktails, such as a perfect gin and tonic, but especially the Paloma.

Mixing with tequila

The newest addition to the ever-growing Fever-Tree family mixes particularly well with tequila. In terms of the recipe, the cheerful and thirst-quenching Paloma is very similar to the Moscow mule. Both cocktails contain a little lime; in the Paloma, you replace the vodka with tequila, and instead of ginger beer, you add grapefruit juice and grapefruit soda.

How to make a Paloma

In Mexico, and by now well beyond its borders too, they can’t get enough of the cheerful Paloma. Understandably so, because aside from its flavor, this cocktail is also incredibly easy to make. You only need four ingredients:

  • 200 ml Fever-Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit
  • 50 ml premium tequila
  • fresh ice
  • a slice of grapefruit

Fill a highball glass with fresh ice (the more ice, the better), pour the tequila into the glass and top up with Fever-Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit. It goes down like lemonade—we’re warning you in advance.
