Feyenoord has its own cheese, especially for the final

This week, you can recognize Feyenoord supporters by their bitten-down nails, the nervous twitch under their eye and the red blotches on their necks. And by the hunk of cheese they put on their sandwiches or start cutting into cubes for the Conference League Final next Wednesday, against AS Roma. Because a cheesemonger in Rhoon has made a special final cheese for the occasion. Delicious with beer as well as wine, according to the experts.

Tim Berkhout is the owner of cheese shop ’t Kaasplateau in Rhoon—and a huge Feyenoord fan. As far as Tim is concerned, tonight’s final is the perfect occasion for a special final cheese. ‘Developed especially for the final,’ he writes on Facebook. ‘Not just any cheese, but a delicious cheese that has been aged for a year.’ Tim describes the flavor as creamy and spicy, with a slight sweetness in the aftertaste. Connoisseurs have already said that this cheese is not only perfect for a Dutch cheeseboard, but is also irresistible with wine or a beer.

What’s more, with this final cheese, the cheesemonger is supporting a good cause: the Dirk Kuyt Foundation, an organization committed to making sports accessible to people with disabilities. For every kilo of cheese sold, Tim donates an amount to the foundation to support his club hero. You can order from ’t Kaasplateau until May 21, and Tim can also vacuum-pack and ship the cheese—even to 020.
