Fresh with a kick: the new Fever-Tree Blood Orange Ginger Beer

A little over a year ago, Fever-Tree, known for its incredibly good mixers, launched its latest mixer: Sparkling Pink Grapefruit. Now Fever-Tree has launched a new flavor: Blood Orange Ginger Beer. And it combines the spicy flavor of ginger beer with the juicy citrus aroma of blood orange.

I love blood orange and ginger beer, so I was very curious about this new mixer. I’m explicitly calling it a ‘mixer’ because that’s what Fever-Tree Blood Orange Ginger Beer was made for. Of course, you can also drink it neat, which is delicious when it’s hot outside, because the flavor of ginger and citrus is refreshing.
It’s even better with something stronger added, such as vodka to make a Bloody Mule, a variation on the classic Moscow Mule. That brings out the blood orange flavor even more.

The blood oranges come from Southern Italy and Sicily, by the way, while the ginger comes from Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Cochin (India). An added benefit is that the new Blood Orange Ginger Beer contains far fewer calories than Fever-Tree’s Premium Ginger Beer. This is because cane sugar has been replaced with fruit sugars. It’s delicious for making a Bloody Mule.

How to make a Bloody Mule
1. Fill a highball glass with fresh ice – the more ice, the longer your drink will stay chilled;
2. Pour 50 ml of vodka into your glass and top up with Fever-Tree Blood Orange Ginger Beer;
3. Garnish the glass with a slice of (blood) orange.
