Fun for Christmas: making gingerbread houses yourself (with help from IKEA and Rudolph van Veen)
You’ve probably seen them popping up on your socials before: houses made of gingerbread or spiced biscuit. Of course, they create the ultimate Christmas feeling, but they are a little boring. Why not pimp your houses a bit, or even better, go on steroids for Christmas: build an entire village. IKEA and Rudolph van Veen are here to lend a hand. Let’s get started!
After the charcuterie chalet and the charcuterie wreath, we’re happily continuing to craft away here in the editorial office. We got our inspiration from our Swedish friends with a love of fika.
Fika?
Fika—a cup of coffee with something delicious—is just as Swedish as ABBA. ‘Let’s have a fika’ is therefore one of the most common invitations when speaking to or bumping into someone. The custom is so deeply ingrained in Swedish culture that some companies add a clause to their contracts stating that employees are entitled to fika breaks. Now, that’s something to be jealous of.
