Genius: why didn’t we know this trick for slicing liver sausage sooner?

Leverworst verpakking

If there’s no liver sausage at the round birthday party, you might as well call the whole thing off. Right? We have good news for all round birthday party organizers. There’s a super-handy trick that lets you slice liver sausage in no time, without fiddling around with that tight plastic casing.

That’s obviously fantastic news for all liver sausage lovers who enjoy spreading the soft, pink stuff on their bread. Or for the real fans, who eat a slice of liver sausage straight from their hand as a snack. Even when they’re not awkwardly and unwillingly sitting in a circle to celebrate someone’s birthday.

The liver sausage clip trick

When you slice liver sausage, do you always cut off the ‘end’ first? In other words, the end where the clip holds the plastic together? Stop! Don’t do that anymore! That clip has another function besides shaping a tight casing around the liver sausage. You can use it to slowly push the liver sausage upwards. We learned that from CEO of Lifehacks Malte Katenbrink.

What do you need to do? First, cut the liver sausage in half so an opening is created through which you can get the liver sausage out of the packaging. And now for the trick: grab the clip and turn it around. The liver sausage will now slowly pop out of the packaging. You can slice perfect pieces from the sausage. Grab the clip, turn it and slice—that’s all there is to it.

And just like that, you’ve sliced your liver sausage in the blink of an eye (literally). See? The clip on the liver sausage turns out to be yet another everyday object with an extra secret function. You just have to know about it.
