Good news for all fans: Yotam Ottolenghi is launching his own travel and cooking show
We love Yotam Ottolenghi. And who doesn’t? Everybody loves Yotam. Millions of copies of his cookbooks have been sold worldwide. Which foodie doesn’t have at least one copy of Plenty, Simple or Flavour on their cookbook shelf? Ottolenghi popularised Middle Eastern cuisine among the general public and taught Dutch home cooks to work with rose water, za’atar and pomegranate.
And the good news for all fans: from Sunday 18 July, Ottolenghi will be seen weekly on Dutch television. With his own cooking series, broadcast on culinary channel njam! Can’t receive njam! on your TV (yet)? The series is also available – in Dutch – as streaming video on the website of njam!.
Mediterranean feast
Ottolenghi’s Mediterranean Feast is both a cooking and travel programme. In the series, Yotam shows how you can turn any dish into an (Eastern) Mediterranean feast. He takes viewers to countries and islands in the Mediterranean region. The journey begins by exploring the wild, rugged beauty of Sardinia and Corsica, before descending to the Balearic Islands and the island of Mallorca, known for its almonds. The TV chef then travels on to the island of Crete. Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia and his home country of Israel also feature in his very personal cultural and culinary journey of discovery. During his travels, he meets chefs and food heroes with whom he explores the local food culture and cooks together.
Practical information
From Sunday 18 July, every Sunday at 10:30 (with repeats at 15:30 and 23:00). Njam! is broadcast on channel 39 (via KPN’s basic package), and all episodes can also be watched as video streams via www.njam.tv. For those who can’t wait, here’s a preview of Mediterranean Feast on YouTube.
Njam in the Netherlands
Last year, the well-known Flemish cooking TV channel njam! also launched in the Netherlands with programmes specifically aimed at the Dutch market. Dutch chefs who regularly appear on njam! include: Syrco Bakker, Joris Bijdendijk, Margot Reuten, Jonnie Boer, Jord Althuizen, Michiel van der Eerde and Martin Kruithof.
