Here you can eat Amsterdam’s most affordable Christmas menu
The holidays, or actually the entire month of December (or actually: life in general at the moment), cost a fortune. It makes perfect sense, then, that many people choose to eat at home during the Christmas holidays, because eating out is genuinely very expensive — especially with the Christmas menu as the year-end showstopper. But a Christmas dinner like that doesn’t necessarily have to cost an arm and a leg. You just need to know where to go. I’ve got that tip for you: here you can eat Amsterdam’s most affordable Christmas menu.
If you live in or around Amsterdam, the most affordable option by far is the Hard Rock Café. And maybe you don’t immediately associate it with the Christmas spirit—I get that—but they’ve spared no expense or effort to make it as Christmassy as possible here — successfully.
‘The smartest Christmas menu in Mokum’
That’s what they call it themselves, at least. Good to know: it’s their Christmas menu, but it’s not only available to order during Christmas; they offer this menu throughout the entire month of December. And why is it so smart? Because it’s nice and straightforward, and therefore affordable. No fuss with amuse-bouches, hundreds of courses and complications. Just three courses for the very reasonable price of €39.95.
If you’re not a big eater or don’t feel like sitting down for a long time, you can also have two courses; that will cost you €33.95. Seriously, you won’t quickly find that in Amsterdam anymore at a nice restaurant where you can also eat well. Plus points for Hard Rock Café for this deal.
Chicken wings with blue cheese sauce
I have a bit of a soft spot for Hard Rock Café anyway, because this is (as far as I know, but definitely let me know if you know of more places) the only restaurant that still has chicken wings with blue cheese sauce on the menu. Also known as my guilty pleasure. Served with celery, of course. Secretly, I do enjoy American cuisine every now and then: good burgers, chicken wings, deliciously generous portions and the perfect comfort food.
In other words: exactly what you’ll feel like eating with friends at Christmas.
