Hot damn, that’s delicious: Tabasco Chipotle

Tabasco has been hot on the spicy-sauce scene for a while now, with a bottle to suit every spicy need. Think sriracha and the sweetly mild Rototo — available for a limited time. But we’d also like to make a case for our favorite: the smoky, sultry Tabasco Chipotle. Because we’re huge fans of this little powerhouse!

Chi—what??
Chipotle (chee-POHT-lay) is the name of a jalapeño pepper that has ripened from green to red on the plant and is then smoked. Tabasco smokes these Mexican peppers over pecan wood, resulting in a full, rich flavor with a pronounced yet gently smoky accent.
The BBQ king speaks
Jord Althuizen, friend of FavorFlav and supreme meat master, is also completely in love with this variety. He says he dislikes sweetly sauced beef, and that most barbecue sauces completely ruin the best thing about steaks with their sweetness. He prefers to highlight the boldness, umami and savoriness of beef, and this Chipotle variety fits like a glove to bring that out. And if Jord says so, our shopping basket is already filling up.
No Christmas table without it
So, on Boxing Day, I served slow-cooked pork for 15 people with a Mexican twist: marinated in cumin and oregano, and topped with pickled red cabbage, sour cream, cilantro-lime relish, crunchy corn nuts AND… bottles of Tabasco Chipotle on the table!
Super-inclusive
Huuuuuuuhh, the vegans among you may be thinking. But don’t panic—you can also go completely plant-based with these excellent sauces. Have you seen the Auburger yet, and did you know that Tabasco sauces are vegetarian, vegan, kosher and halal, and contain only natural ingredients? So, if you’re just as mega into hot sauce as we are, this is a fantastic addition to your collection.
