Lidl is now selling Future Goods, special products from startups

Lidl

From cricket meatballs, burgers and prawn crackers made from circularly grown oyster mushrooms to biodegradable coffee pods and a delicious cacao fruit juice: you can find them all at Lidl from today. The so-called ‘Future Goods’ products will be on the shelves there for one week—or while supplies last.

These aren’t random products, by the way; Lidl selected various startups focused on developing products that contribute to making our food chain more sustainable. This isn’t the first time, either: a few years ago, Lidl also had Future Goods products on its shelves.

Deliciously sustainable

Earlier this year, startups were able to present their products at a pitch organized by Lidl. The winners now on the shelves are:

  • WilliCroft Young Dutch and Greek White. Vegan cheese made from white beans. Perfect in your toasted sandwich and delicious in your salad.
  • GRO oyster mushroom burgers and vegan Krupi Chips. Made from circularly grown mushrooms cultivated using coffee grounds.
  • Cacao juice from Pacha de Cacao. A wonderfully refreshing, summery drink made from cacao pulp that helps cacao farmers earn a second income. Cacao juice is packed with magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and vitamin B. It is 100% natural and you can drink it as is, or use it in smoothies, cocktails or sorbet.
  • Little Hopper meatballs from De Krekerij. Meatballs made from crickets fed on green residual streams. Delicious, climate-friendly, efficient and circular.
  • Cupplement Immunity + Energy Focus. Functional coffee without an after-caffeine crash, in biodegradable cups.
  • Cultcha Kombucha. Natural soft drink made with sencha tea and freshly pressed juice. Artisan-brewed, sustainable natural ingredients, sleek design.

In stores now

The Future Goods products are available at Lidl from today (30 June). You can find them in all Lidl stores in the Netherlands until 6 July (or earlier, because when they’re gone, they’re gone). Keep a close eye on the shelf labels, or ask in the store, as the products are spread throughout the store.
