Lidl sells croissant bread: ‘extremely suitable for the Easter table’
Our snack crack Snackspert didn’t put a burger or cheese stick in his mouth this time, but a real croissant bread from Lidl. Honestly: it costs next to nothing. But is it worth bringing home?
You can do anything with a croissant. We’re lyrical about Fort Negen’s loaded croissants. But not every turn proves equally successful. We consider Albert Heijn’s Cronaantje a major failure and, even though it’s tasty, the Magnum croissant is a direct assault on your heart.

And now Lidl has come up with a real croissant bread. A giant croissant in the shape of a loaf—why not? You can cut slices from it and top them with butter and cheese, or jam, or whatever you like. Not a bad idea, a croissant bread like that. Does Snackspert agree?

Croissant bread at Lidl?! This could potentially become a hit as big as a collaboration between Taylor Swift and Nick Schilder. Or something. But hey, I think it’s pretty cool. Unfortunately, it isn’t a large loaf, but it is extremely suitable for the Easter table. The only thing is: the bread doesn’t have the best of a croissant, and that’s a shame. Ideally, you want it fresh and warm, which also means a velvety-soft interior. And that isn’t the case now, because the croissant bread has obviously been sitting on the shelves for a while and has therefore lost its freshness. So it tastes like any other croissant you ate in HAVO4. Not special, but perfectly fine. And that is precisely the conclusion of this review. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
