Make the tastiest pink cakes at home with Dr. Oetker’s pink cake mix

I absolutely love pink cakes. That sweet topping combined with the slightly soggy cake—sometimes nothing beats something so nostalgic. We previously shared the recipe for making them from scratch at home (here’s that pink cake recipe), but Dr. Oetker now has a Pink Cake Mix on the shelves, making it even easier to make them yourself. We’ll give you the recipe right away.

How to make pink cakes yourself with Dr. Oetker

With this recipe and these ingredients, you can make 8 pink cakes. Here’s how:

• Make sure the butter is at room temperature and soft.
• Remove the baking tray from the oven and place the included moulds on it.
• Preheat the oven to the indicated temperature. (Oven temperature with conventional top and bottom heat: 160 °C, fan oven temperature: 150 °C).
• Now prepare the pink cake batter: beat the butter until soft with the mixer in a mixing bowl.
• Add the pink cake mix and 75 ml water to the butter and mix everything for 2 minutes on the highest setting until smooth.
• Divide the cake batter among the cake moulds using 2 tablespoons or an ice cream scoop (approx. 55 g).
• Now bake the pink cake batter: place the baking tray in the centre of the preheated oven and bake the cakes for approx. 25–30 minutes until done. 
• The pink cakes are done when you press your finger into the centre of the cake and it springs back (注意: it’s hot).
• Then allow the pink cakes to cool thoroughly.
• To decorate the pink cakes: fill the kettle and bring the water to a boil.
• Put the icing mix in a mixing bowl, add 25 ml hot water (weighing it is more accurate) and stir everything with the mixer on the lowest setting until smooth.
• Beat the mixture with the mixer for 2 minutes on the highest setting until light and airy, then leave to cool for 5 minutes.
• Stir the pink icing mixture well (until no colour specks are visible) and spread it over the cakes with a spoon.
• Leave the pink cakes for at least 30 minutes so that the icing sets properly.
