Man flips out over jar of peanut butter: the struggle is real

Life doesn’t always make things easy for us. Sometimes the simplest things can become huge obstacles. Take spreading peanut butter on a slice of bread. The struggles are real and painfully relatable, too. Will you read along with this smooth review?

Which brand of peanut butter the review is actually about remains a bit of a mystery. One thing is certain: we’re talking about real peanut butter here. You know, the super-smooth kind with a layer of oil floating on top. And well… Reading the review, we have to admit that we can definitely relate to the complaining. So Calvé, Albert Heijn, Jumbo or whichever peanut butter producer, are you reading this?
Problem with jar of peanut butter 1: unclear labels
Where did the good old days go, when you simply had just one peanut butter in the range? Yes, there have been several brands of peanut butter in the supermarket for years, but this is about the countless varieties you can choose from nowadays. With pieces, without pieces, with a few pieces, with big pieces, with small pieces, maybe with pieces… Not to mention that you can now also get versions with coconut, chili, sea salt and so on. This man finds that really annoying—especially because all those labels look alike. I JUST WANT NORMAL PEANUT BUTTER!

Problem 2: that annoying seal
So you’ve already brought home the wrong jar, and as soon as you get home you run into the next problem: that horrible seal. Nine times out of ten, it doesn’t have a tab, so you keep picking at it until you’re exhausted. Only to end up pulling aggressively or reaching for a knife. Either way, you never get the seal off smoothly and completely, resulting in a ‘chaotic and messy’ situation.

Problem 3: that nasty layer of oil
Real peanut butter has a layer of oil on top. That’s a sign that the jar contains (almost) nothing but ground peanuts and nothing else. Positive in itself, then, because this product isn’t ultra-processed. But it’s also annoying, because you have to stir to mix the oil into the peanuts—but honestly, does that ever go smoothly? No. The jar is too small, so half the oil always drips out. There isn’t enough ‘stirring room’. We feel you!

Problem 4: stuff that’s too runny
Then there’s the final problem, which is actually directly related to the oil: the stuff is simply way too runny. Once you’ve finally managed to get it onto your bread, it just seeps over the sides. Everything gets covered, and you’re left with stains on your clothes again. By the way, have you noticed that the last bit of peanut butter is always easy to get out? As if the stuff has somehow become a little firmer by then.

The solution
In conclusion, something needs to change. We do have a tip: buy a peanut butter maker for your home! That way, you’re completely in control of your jar of peanut butter. You can make it as runny as you like and put everything into a decent-sized jar. See, if the producers aren’t doing anything, you just take matters into your own hands. Because giving up that peanut butter sandwich is not an option.
