New snack bacon knakker brings Oktoberfest home

worst met bier (1)

Snack bar owner Raymond from Snackpoint Knoors in Urmond is completely crazy about his new snack: the bacon knakker. The crispy breaded sausage is filled with pieces of bacon and cheese. The surprising snack, which Raymond serves with waffle fries, is inspired by Oktoberfest.

This wonderfully convivial German beer festival was the inspiration for this snack innovation, because the bacon knakker is essentially a German bratwurst, but filled with pieces of bacon and cheese. The sausage is breaded and briefly deep-fried, for just three minutes, and tastes delicious with a cold beer. Unfortunately, the real Oktoberfests are off the table because of the coronavirus measures, but enjoying a stein of beer with a bacon knakker, or two, at home dressed in a dirndl or lederhosen may well be the next best thing.

Bacon knakker is here to stay

Snackpoint Koors has the bacon knakker on the menu for €2.75, and this deep-fried delight can also be enjoyed at 84 other snack bars affiliated with the Snackpoint chain. No time just yet? Raymond does expect the bacon knakker to become a permanent fixture in the range: ‘I think this snack is here to stay.’
