Oh no, it’s back again: the taco shell made from fried chicken
In the category ‘Can it get any crazier? Yes, it can!’ today’s astonishing fusion between something that is normally a ‘filling’ and something that is actually supposed to be a vehicle… We can already picture the confusion in your eyes, and honestly; we blinked a few times too. Because what has this fast-food chain come up with?
That you can put the filling for a taco inside a shell made of fried chicken. Like, ‘one thing is delicious and the other is too, so let’s stuff them together’. And indeed – a good taco is the ultimate in deliciousness and tender fried chicken is an idea bestowed upon us by the food gods, but surely the two don’t necessarily have to be deformed inside each other? I would even happily eat fried chicken in a soft, fresh flour tortilla, but I’m skipping this one…
Stay far away
And it really won’t be blowing straight into my face either, because the ‘Naked’ Fried Chicken Taco is currently only available at the American chain Taco Bell in… Japan. But apparently it’s a real hit there, because it’s back with a vengeance after being absent for two years. When the ‘Naked Crispy Chicken Taco’ was introduced in America itself, BuzzFeed wrote an article about it and showed in a photo how the outside (made of chicken) is formed. We also seem to be witnessing a bona fide junk food war with Kentucky Fried Chicken, which launched the ‘Kentaco’ at some locations last year.
So many people, so many preferences
No, the photos don’t make it any better in my opinion. But hey, to each their own! If this makes you incredibly greedy and hungry and you happen to find yourself in Japan soon (or you’re still there, as an Olympic athlete), don’t let our bewilderment hold you back…
