The KFC Kentaco: with a taco shell made from fried chicken!
KFC Kentaco: no shell, all chicken. That’s the slogan. And that’s exactly what it is. Real tacos are just annoying, because, well, – they sometimes break – and ‘Meat-Free Week’, which started in the Netherlands today, isn’t a thing in Singapore. Here, they’re launching taco shells made from fried chicken – and the internet is exploding.
4x cheese
The finger lickin’ good taco shell is generously filled. Lettuce, tomato and no fewer than four different kinds of cheese: Emmental, Pecorino Romano, cheddar and mozzarella. Okay, admittedly, this sounds pretty delicious.
Meat substitute? Veggie substitute!
Despite sounding pretty delicious, KFC is of course taking 10 steps backwards. At a time when we can be proud of the many meat substitutes being developed – and which nowadays often taste very good too – it’s of course remarkable to replace a well-known vegetarian product (the taco shell) with an animal product. Talk about an upside-down world!
Still curious? You’re not the only one. Many Americans are begging to know when the KFC Kentaco will also be available in the US. For now, fans will have to travel to Singapore; as far as we know, KFC Kentaco is only available there.
In Roffa, they do things differently
At a KFC location in Rotterdam, things have been very different since this week. To kick off Meat-Free Week, this location is completely vegetarian for the entire week! As of today, the chickenless chicken burger is also a permanent fixture on the menu in the Netherlands. The KF-Colleagues in Singapore could learn a thing or two from that!
